Approx 4 to the £1 and 17 degrees
There’s about £40 in this picture. Diffused studio light on full power at camera left, and SB800 with Gary Fong’s white diffuser camera right, and a couple of little silver foil reflectors just in front of the camera.Flashes were triggered with the SB’s remote CLS system and a generic peanut. Could have done with more power on the left. This small product photography is trickier than it looks.
Currency conversion, map one, map two, 17 degrees! Na zdrowie.

Gateshead car park
Friday, and 5 of us obtained access to the topmost floors of Luder’s concrete extravanganza/monstrosity, made famous as a location in the film Get Carter. This is my favourite of the first batch of photos, but there’s lots more being developed at Colorworld in North Shields.
I’m giving up using Spectrum Imaging to process my film: more about that another day. Meantime, if you have any useful, interesting or informative Spectrum anecdotes, praise or otherwise, please do mail ‘em in.
A SB800 on remote, handheld at arms’ length, and my favourite 85mm 1.4 were used. Will post more photos and the CLS settings, later in the week. I know most people seem to have given up on 35mm, but it’s so easy to use, the machines are eminently portable, and I love it.

More flash
Further to this, Nikon has some pages showing speedlight positions and results: click on the wireless link too. And here are some pages which show how to set Nikon flashes as master/slave combinations, with photos showing the settings. Very useful.
There’s a shop in Leeds devoted entirely to lighting.
