This summer, Seaham Town Council took a contingent including 5 artists, to Gerlingen, a pretty little town just south of Stuttgart. Several of us took work, including a batch of 2D artwork from the East Durham Artist’s Network. I took these as a set of little prints, each mounted in a sandwich of heavyweight board. We had a show while we were there, at the town’s magnificent Strassenfest, and there are plans afoot to mount an exhibition at the town’s Rathaus. More when it happens.

Some of my favourite photographs were taken on the journey – the autobahn, the ferries, and they’ll be posted at some point. Bit of an editing job, and non-essential when things are so busy. The work for my next solo show include the photographs above, mounted small, and a new series of strassen photos. They are of the literal street: paths, roadways, routes. Here’s a taster:

Hope you like them.

A venue hunt is about to begin, although the launch will be at Number Seven, and the lovely EDAN people have offered me a solo show in the Courtyard. Big scanning job to do, and a decision to make about how to mount them. Any suggestions gratefully welcomed.Similar Posts:

Sorting through a week’s worth of photographs from the trip to Gerlingen with Seaham Town Council, editing down to several sets including a gallery of photographs to rescan to create the exhibition. I’m thinking sometime in the winter, maybe November will be too soon, so perhaps February. These photographs aren’t part of the selection, but one or two might make the slideshow of my talk, the wonderful late summer ripening fruits in gardens in this pretty town are worth sharing.

There’s some sort of pumpkin festival, including soup eating and probably drinking too, tho we didn’t quite catch up with what that was all about. These last two are iPhone photos, made with the Camerabag app. That iPhone is becoming a popular camera, and it’s easy to see why.

The obligatory visit to a winery, a weingut: the Baumgartner’s family estate (website made by Esther) in the rolling green countryside of Sachsenheim-Hohenhaslach. Quite a mouthful, in more ways than one. Beautiful place. The wine: if you’re at Number Seven over Christmas there might be a taste. It’s scrumptious, especially the rose.

These are quince. They’re bitter, and hard, but make a wonderful aromatic jelly that you can slice or cube, to eat with cheese. Haven’t seen any hanging on trees in years: probably the 1980s, also in Germany.Similar Posts:
