Co-working update!

Remember this? Okay. Things have moved on apace. If you replied there, you’ll have received an email inviting you to participate. The key points are:

What we will definitely be doing:

- Private Views and Gallery Space
- Darkrooms wet & digital
- Portfolio Reviews, Editing and Critique sessions
- Websites for Photographers (and artists) sessions
- more things that people suggest

Urgently Engaging With:
Very interested photographers and artists to get involved. People to be
on the management group, people who want to use the space for
exhibiting, learning, enjoying. Possibly a residency, workshops, all
that. If you can teach or speak, yeay. Most people can teach something,
oh yes.

TODAY and ALL NEXT WEEK
Urgently need cleaning, painting, decorating. Please bring old clothes.
Tea and coffee provided, local shops do sarnies but we can also make
‘em. Warm, clean overnight accommodation possible for the keenest.

There will be a preliminary meeting tomorrow, Sunday 3rd August, with another on Sunday 10th. The plan is to open the first Private View on the first weekend of September. You will be approached if we want you, but please email via the contact form if you’re interested in exhibiting.

Obviously priority will go to photographers who are involved, especially if they help with the repairs and painting. This is what the place looks like now, so there is a lot to do in four weeks.

Seven years later

There’s  party in Westminster next week marking the 7th year of Brian Haw’s protest opposite the Houses of Parliament. He writes:

June 2nd 2008 is a sad day for me. So many have needlessly suffered and died the 7 years 24/7 we have been witnessing here. I will mark the 7 years by fasting and praying. I invite our supporters to join me in this. Empathy for children and families who die by our war. Thank you for your care and support.

The photo was taken 3 years ago, when 4 years seemed a long time. Since then, Brian has been celebrated in Mark Wallinger’s Turner Prize and badly beaten up by the police. Go and join him if you can, on his 7th anniversary.
