Thanks for the tips. I lived in Chicago for 4 years and took a bunch of photos. This was back in the eighties when I had little photography experience. Just went through some old photos and wish I would have a little more knowledge back then. Maybe I get a chance this winter to head north and capture some great shots.

Great tips, specially # 5.

Aside from a cumbersome tripod, you can use a Gorillapod (available for Point&Shoots and DSLRs) for those places where a tripod’s legs simply won’t stick.
