Mapping Shipping in Real Time

This absolutely incredible open source data mashup shows shipping all over the world, and is updated in real time. You can see the name and lots of data on any ship you can see on the horizon, anywhere in the world, provided from maps, databases of shipping, and information sent in by contributor volunteers. Click through and have a shufty around. Utterly amazing.

    Amazing! But what do you mean by ‘contributor volunteers’? Does that mean that people who have agreed too update the info every now and then? Seems too good to be true!
