So congratulations to the lovely Sam Smith for getting this one, and here's a link to a post showing Pete Ashton using one of these, or one very similar.

You could put an off-camera flash on it, or another camera, say a video or timelapse camera, yes.

The holes are to lock through to a tripod or light stand. There's a picture somewhere of Pete Ashton using one recently. I'll post it tomorrow.

So good he said it twice.

Sam, I think the reason you got buried deep inside my spam queue with all those cialis ads has something to do with your email address.

Pier: you could conceivably put a cone-shaped paper filter into one of the bigger holes in the top, but it would collapse as soon as you poured the water in. A jug would work better.

Alex: that's a very small car you're driving around with all those bairns inside.

Jac: it could serve that purpose, in fact I'll use it for measuring the next 6" on this jacket I'm knitting. So far you've provided the best answer in terms of finding a use for the thing...

.. but wrong. You're all wrong.

Too easy - it's a thing you put next to your tape measure to see what six inches looks like.

It's one of the brackets I use to keep the top box attached to my roof rack. I was looking for this morning. Glad you found it. Can I have it back now?
