There’s such a lot of stuff going on in the next few days and at the weekend. Here’s a good pick over a great bunch.
Durham miners’ banners at Bowburn Community Centre, part of the magnificent Heritage Open Days. There are going to be Coffins, Plagues and Burials in Gateshead And if bridges are your thing, here are four of the best: How To Fix A Bridge in 4 Minutes; River Tees Boat Trip and Transporter Climb; The Swing Bridge (say a warm hello to Mr Fenwick); The Queen Alex in sunny Sunderland.
Other grand ideas: The Lit & Phil, The Apollo Pavilion, Walker Masonic Hall, Newcastle Civic Hall and there’s a display of photographs documenting the refurb of the High level Bridge in the window at Waygood, if you’re passing.
And when you’ve had your fill of heritage, there’s Twestival! In Middlesbrough, they decided to ah, ‘merge’ and now there’s a whopping big one in Newcastle and you can follow them of course, on twitter.
What else? Ah the magnificent Byker Revisited opens on Saturday, and Cinema Africa is on at the Star & Shadow.
