DCAPS 2009: Humanising Photography

This year’s conference from the Durham Centre for Advanced Photography Studies (that’s the original Durham, in the UK) has been announced. It’s September 25-27th 2009, at St John’s College.

Entitled ‘Humanising Photography’, it explores the relationship between photography, humanism, human rights and humanitarianism. It features papers from a range of international scholars, including Thomas Keenan and Sharon Sliwinski, as well as contributions from photographers Marcelo Brodsky, Bruno Boudjelal and Luis Sinco (TBC).

Last year’s conference was absolutely riveting. And of course the big bonus is the setting, in this beautiful ancient city of ours. Get there if you can.
