The trailer shows a few snippets of Sirkka Liisa Kontinnen at work in Byker, with a few stills of her ongoing project, which must be almost complete. And as I wrote this, an email popped in saying it’s:
a short clip from Byker Revisited: Today I’m With You, the new film from Amber, made in conjunction with Sirkka’s new photography book Byker Revisited.
The film will premiere at Side Cinema on Thursday 1 October with a repeat screening on 8 October as part of our Urban Reelism Season which starts on 15 September – more details to follow online shortly!
Sirkka’s exhibition opens at Side Gallery on Saturday 12 September and runs until 31 October.
Side Cinema has recently started online ticket selling, which is excellent, since it’s certain these will sell out fast. So you can get yours now.
Some of Sirkka’s first Byker photographs are available as a book, and to preview here.
