I’ve a couple of photograms in the Exibition at EDANCourtyard Gallery in Seaham Harbour, right opposite the docks. Click through to see a taster of other work on show. The Courtyard is open Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays 10-4 with a Private View showing the month’s new work every first Tuesday. August’s textiles exhibition is opening this evening from 7pm. If you’re in the area, do come along.
Photograms are such a joy to make – a great relief after several difficult months struggling to make lith prints. With photograms you’ve either got it or you haven’t, and it’s quick and easy to see it, if you have. In conversation with Paul Cordes last week, it seems he’s making photograms too, but using natural light, sunlight, as his exposure of choice, leaving the paper in the sun until it starts turning purple. Interesting approach – must be tried!
One of the great joys of getting involved with an artists’ network is meeting the artists, and enjoying the inevitable shared issues and challenges inherent in getting work shown, and sharing the joys of our respective successes and failures.
This work is by David Sinclair. He “explores the concept of the Theatre of Science, which uses props to blind, muffle and numb the senses.” This recent work is one of his collages of found objects, and uniquely intriguing. Click through to see other views of the piece.
It’s possible that other artists, other works will be featured here from time to time, and the beginning of a prospective series of tours of artists’ studios. It’s degree show time too. Interesting days.
