The Hera Collective have a festival this Saturday at the Star and Shadow. I’ll be showing some new work, including the Fence and Wishful Thinking series, for the first time. This is from their press release:

The Hera Festival is an afternoon and evening of music, performance. Featuring:

Plus DJ Ms. MQ’s Reggae sounds,stalls, zines, free cake and more!

Fanzine Workshop facilitated by Rachel Holborow: an introduction to fanzines and their place within feminism and the Riot Grrrl movement, the power of their immediacy, and a DiY guide to making you own. Everyone has the chance to contribute their own personal or political page to a fanzine that will be given away free as part of the Hera festival that night.

Fanzine Workshop from 3pm – Free

Music and Performance from 7pm – £4/£3 conc.

To attend you need to be a member of the Star and Shadow which costs £1 and can be done on the day/evening.

Directions: The Star and Shadow, Stepney Bank, Newcastle NE1 2NP.
Situated at the top of Stepney Bank, on the corner with Crawhall Rd, opposite The Tanners pub on the town side of Byker Bridge. Buses 6B, 12, 22, 39, 40, 62, 63, 106, 301, 302 stop near Tanners. Nearest metro is Manors. Cycle park inside the building.

HERA is a non profit Collective dedicated to the promotion, articulation and archival of women’s creative and political work.

Sound like fun? And the fabulous exhibition of Paul Knox’s black and white photographs from a Hartlepool boxing school are still on show at Darlington Arts Centre. Go and see at least one of these this weekend.
