The Newcastle Pasmores

pasmore-1

Glowbikes originator and geeky colleague Mr Pete, acutely aware of these things, told me of a pair of large Pasmore sculptures in the foyer of the Council offices in Newcastle. These are a few research photographs taken yesterday, and hurriedly developed in Asda in Hartlepool. Grateful thanks to the Civic Centre management team for the access, and for all their help yesterday. The pride they take in this beautiful place is considerable, and for a governance building, the place has such an air of lightness and warmth. More about this to come…

The Pasmores are thick eau-de-nil, brown and black glass plates, each taking up the whole wall at either side of the reception area. The way the lights are reflected in the surface, and how each work mirrors the other, is lovely. An early morning photoshoot, when the area is empty, is next.
