20 Things I’m Longing To Do in 2008 (Part One)

1. Find out why my enlarger has packed up – bulb or fuse? – and then make more photograms and publish them in a mini book.

2. See the usual round of London shows at least twice. There is always some incredible photography exhibition that leaves me open-mouthed in awe. Last year it was the Gurskys. What’s on right now, any recommendations?

3. Do one of these whacky out-all-night with a 5×4 on a bleak northern hillside things that are gaining ground amongst certain photographers of my acquaintance. Can’t wait!

4. Practice a whole lot more with Type 55.

5. Re 4 above: get a better grip, literally, on large format photography.

6. Sort out my professional website at brendadada.com. I mean it. I have stacks of stuff to show, and it’s all in boxes or drawers.

7. Work smarter at this education palaver: get caught up properly over the next 3 weeks and then really give this next term a whole lotta of love. There is still an awful lot to do.

8. Flog a pile of spare darkroom things and a couple of nice but hardly ever used cameras on eBay or to someone who’ll love them. I have a mint C330, a battered but fully working V series Blad, both with all their bits, and a few other things of that ilk. Let me know if you’re interested.

9. Publish a proper hardback portfolio book, and several small commissioned books that are in the waiting because some very nice people have patience, tolerance and understanding.

10. Make a family tree website and publish all the old family photos on it, including the ones from ancient Barningham. And take at least one, ideally more than one, younger relative around my grandfather’s bus route via his mother and his grandmother’s houses in Ravensworth and Whashton.

Lots of people seem to be doing these lists and I like them. In lieu of any of your actual real, proper blogging over the next 10 days or so (I am just horribly busy), please consider yourself tagged, if you’re reading this, especially if your name’s Sam, Dave, Emma, Sarah or Ian. I won’t link and embarass you, you know who you are.

Part Two next week, which might be the next time I’ll get time to post, the way things are. Keep up the good work folks, and a belated Happy New Year.

By a V series blad do you mean 500 series, coz I’ve a blad and only one lens and one back :)

Yes. I’ve got lots of backs, all pretty scruffy, but fully working. No spare lenses though. I’ll sell the backs for £50 each, 120 or 220, if you’re interested.

Mmmmmm, tempted by the 330. I shouldn’t I know, but I do love them. And my TLR is hardly mint. What lens/lenses? Coated? How much? And do I need it for my trip to Australia next month :)

All three lenses they made, coated. Australia: definitely. It’s mint.
