daDa at Python Wed 19th December
There’s a What’s On section down the middle of the page here, derived from Upcoming (which was once cool). This event deserves a special mention though.
DigitalCity’s composer in residence Michael Edgerton, is hosting a Dada Cabaret at Middlesbrough’s Python Gallery this month.
It will be based on the cultural movement that began during the first world war and was made famous by the likes of Max Ernst, Man Ray, Kurt Schwitters and John Heartfield.
In the great tradition of Dada, the cabaret will incorporate the many different art forms that are being represented in the Tees Valley. Visual arts, performance poetry, dance, burlesque and theatre will all be included. Internationally renowned composer Edgerton will be doing some experimental stuff with voices and making music with unusual things - including a food blender!
The Dada Cabaret takes place at Middlesbrough’s Python Gallery on Wednesday 19th December from 7.30pm. The Gallery is based in Royal Middlehaven House on Gosford Street which is close to Middlesbrough Rail station.
