Sweary Searchers

‘king hell

Thing is, if you use words like f*ck, and chjld, especially in the same sentence as pr0n, or with words like dubious, and in connection with a story attracting huge national media attention, the search terms in your ‘Came From’ referral logs can start looking pretty creepy. Except that several of my recent visitors have ended up here. Which is nice.

The photo is of a Kendell Geers installation, on at B4ltic until Jan. There is some astonishing stuff in there at the moment, and now they’re allowing photography in the galleries, we don’t have to sneak about any more. Wonder if they thought about the bloggers when they made their decision? Certainly makes the place far more accessible to me.

I got bored with the Kendell Geers once I’d worked out what the word was that he’d ‘wallpapered’ most of his pieces with, although he did manage to piss me off with the skull. But I did like the golden crucifix piece made with police batons.

My main search engine word referral is still “chicken fillets” though – and long may it remain so!

Yes, it is completely overdone, I think. The Lambretta was just well, predictable. The body bags in the transept-shaped box gave me a sharp intake of breath, but tbh the rest of it left me cold, although I did like this neon. Reminds me of Burger King, and that’s probably the point.

Some time ago, I was looking for a partner to go out and do a neon shoot with, make a collection for a book. Don’t really want to do it on my own, especially when it’ll probably be best done at night. If you can think of anyone who might like that idea, do please let me know.

Chicken fillets is a great one! Maybe you could do the occasional recipe or restaurant review, heh. You honestly don’t want to see mine this week. B4ltic is going to stay like that for a while, I’m afraid.

Unless you really prefer company I don’t see why you couldn’t do your neon project idea on your tod, especially with the nights now drawing in – I mean, in a few weeks time the clocks will go, er, forward? So it’ll be dark earlier but not so late that you need feel in danger is what I’m trying to say?

Well, you’re right about the time of year, indeed. But I am looking to do a couple of things collaboratively, and over a period of time. We have so little neon in the NE it might be interesting to see what we have got, as a collection that is probably dying out beyond the glitz of nightclubland. I’m thinking chip shop signs and bingo, really.

Yeah I know whatever but; spring forward and fall back. Helps me remember.

Happy hunting for the neon B. I think wet weather enhances the impact. I expect you get plenty in your neck of the woods.
